The origin of the name Tara and “Tara Tarot”
The name Tara is a spiritual name, which my spirit guides told me to take during a Summer Solstice ceremony in 1992. Tara is a very beautiful Goddess originating in India where millions of followers worship her to this day. She is also revered in Tibet and other Buddhist countries. The Sanskrit root Sitara, means “star” and the musical instrument the sitar literally makes celestial music.
The Latin word for the earth, Terra comes from the same root word. Goddess Tara’s worship was so widespread it spread from India to Ireland, where the Hills and Kings of Tara were originally dedicated to Her, as the Earth Mother.
My original given middle name was Esther, a transliteration of Tara as it turns out. All derivatives of the words and names Astarte, Ishtar, stars, asterisk, astronomy, astrology etc. come from Her name.
