Autumn Equinox Mabon, Feast of Balance and Equality of Night and Day Goddess and God
Our Ancestors believed in the participation Mystique of Life. The original “religion” was Solar,
Sun worship, like the Egyptians, the sun was/is the Light, the Life giver. The stars and planets seen at night who were seen
by different cultures as constellations, anuimals or personages familiar to each particular culture. As our ancestors survival
depended upon the food they hunted or grew, watching the seasons was paramount. So watching, celebrating and praying and offering
to the Sun as it made it’s annual journey through the Heavens was a necessity.
The Pagan year was divided into 8 parts. The 4 seasons and 4 “cross-quarter” dates. The inception
of each season needed to be celebrated watched, honoured.
The ascent of Light at spring, the descent at autumn. These were personified as the Goddess withdrawing or
bestowing her light. As a Divine Play of masculine and feminine energies throughout the year infinitely.
Mabon is the Pagan Festival of the Autumn Equinox- The Balance of the Feminine and the Masculine It is one
of the 8 great turning of the wheels of the years' sabbats or Festivals.
Once we were all Pagans, it is the original " religion." It is the essence
and spirituality of Nature Herself, the Earth, Gaia, the Stars, of Life and Love and death and rebirth. Pagan spirituality knowsthe Goddess/ Godforce/ Divine Intelligence as Immanent of Her/Our Inner Beauty.
Mabon
is considered to be a time of mysteries. Summer is over, we are entering the
Ascent of the Darkness, of the Feminine, we are entering a time of rebirth, a time of rest, turning inwards, introspection.
It is a time to find balance, to stop and enjoy the fruits of our labours at the harvesting time, autumn's grain, is spring's
seed, it is a time to give thanks.
Mabon ritual prayers go something like this:
"We have sown, We have tended,
We have grown, we have gathered,
We have reaped a good harvest,
Lady, we thank you for our gifts,
Lord, we thank you for your bounty,
I thank you for........... { something personal}
Mabon Spellwork is for protection, prosperity, security and self- confidence. Invoking the balance
of dark and light for harmony and balance within and without.
The Goddesses of Mabon are Modron, Morgan, Persephone, PAmona and the Muses. The Gods are
Mabon, Thoth, Thor, Hermes and the Green Man.
Autumn Equinox 2010 is very powerful Astrologically
it falls Sept 22 just hours before a Full moon making it More potent for
spells and magically means.
